Part 2 Depression
This is what the word of Gods says about Despair.
When love is absent from your heart, despair may take place.
Numbers 11:10-15
10 Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the Lord was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.
11 And Moses said unto the Lord, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?
12 Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?
13 Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.
14 I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.
15 And if thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in thy sight; and let me not see my wretchedness.
• Having a heavy burden that you alone must carry.
• In other words when someone is locked into a hopeless state of mind. In the book of Numbers, Moses had such
a burden. So, he complained about the people. He said he was afflicted, because the people are crying about
the condition that they were living in. He said “I thought I had favor with you but, all this complaining and
murmuring is really getting to my mind and my body. God I’m starting to get depressed.
Here are some reasons why someone might consider suicide.
A state of hopeless
Disobedience: (1 Samuel 28:16-25)
Disappointment.
Impeding death.
Futility of human things.
Rejection against God.
Death will acquire you when you have lost all hope. Let’s read about someone who killed himself because of depression.
Matthew 27:3-5 Then Judas, which betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders. Saying, I have sinned that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, what is that to us? See thou to that. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.
In this situation he allowed the devil to fill his mind with disparity; therefore, he had no room to realize that God would take him back. And my friends this is what sin does. It clouds your mind to the point that you cannot see the sun because of the thick clouds. Listen, confusion comes in many forms, and depression is a cloud of disparity. This man did something that he finally realized was not only shameful, but he put a man in jail for crimes he did not commit. And finally, the man who happened to be Jesus, was put to death. He realized that he could not live with what he had done! As it was with our fallen brother, we too have been hiding behind what we call the truth, and our actions are solely based upon what we perceive as truth but is a lie. Listen, without a doubt many people are two faced, and their daily actions reveal this to be the truth. Whenever anyone acts in a way that is not related to the truth, they are a fake. On your job, I’m very sure that one of the supervisors on your job is either a dictator, bully, or a busybody in the matters of others. In some cases, after a long while of dealing with such a person, a tormented victim, builds up a field of hatred for them. If you are not saved, then it’s possible for you to go get a gun and arrive at work, and kill everyone you perceive was in on the mayhem towards you.
Again, at this point because you have no Godly hope, you have resorted to the self. The Bible says that they that are in the flesh, can never please God. The only one who derives pleasure from depressed folk, is the devil and his people. God, on the other hand, will always show His people the way out, even then, they have the choice to accept it or reject it. But if they are saved, they will always accept the will of the father. How do I know this to be true? Let us go to the word.
Ezekiel 36:26-28 A new heart also will I give you, and a new Spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my ways statues, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God.
In other words: The moment God gives us a new heart; we are not susceptible to the lies of the devil the deceiver, because our bodies have been changed, so have our minds. So, the heart is now renewed. The next blessing is the fact that we need a new spirit placed into us, which means, he cannot get lost. However, we can grieve the Holy Spirit of God, and then He will leave. My friends, illusions of doubt can seep into the mind of those who are now backsliders. But know this, God is married to the backsliders. And in His provisions, He said, "I will take you back."
However, when we willfully walk away from the Lord, meaning to say, when you no longer want to read the Bible, pray, worship Him, give Him his 10%, fasting, meditating on the word, presenting your body unto Him, this is without a doubt, turning your back on Him and His will for your life. Listen, when our minds have been conformed to the world's system, we have lost our connection to the Father. Therefore, as a direct result of our own selfish actions, we have thrust ourselves directly into hands of the devil. He will kill, steal, and destroy all souls that are not protected by the Lord.
Therefore, such people have just presented themselves as prime candidates for depression to come into them and live! At that point, killing oneself is now the desire, but if the Spirit of the Lord is dwelling in us, we will keep God's rules, and regulations. So then, suicide cannot have its way with us. Meaning to say, The Lord shall never leave us or forsake us. This means we are never alone when the devil comes with his bag of tricks. Listen, this is what I have learned as I walked with the Lord’s Spirit. I must fight the devil using my mustard seed faith that the Father gave to every one of us. Whether we are good or bad, we have the faith available to us. With the small seed, we can then call upon the name of the Lord, and He will hear us, and send us an invitation to talk to the Father. When this invitation is granted to an individual, they must then take action. So, let’s read the word concerning this.
Numbers 33:55. But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you; it shall come to pass, that those which ye let remain of them shall be pricks in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and shall vex you in the land wherein ye dwell.
What is this telling you?
You need to step to the devil, and tell him, you can’t have me, because I have power from the Lord, to resist your nonsense!
James 4:7. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
With this power you can then say I will not listen to the lies of the devil because I will not have my mind corrupt with confusion, which leads to me wanting to walk into the house of depression!
If I do not choose life through the driving out method, well then, I must fall headlong into the forest of depression, without any hope for relief.
And please understand this!
It is at your own hand that you fell because you did not drive out the trash that was inside of you. Remember this! God gives us free will, which means, you have no excuse that you can use as to why you did not receive the salvation plan that was presented to you.
Whatever you allow to remain in your life system, has the potential to control you.
You know, like your unsaved friends, your sexual desires, your house, car, or money have become your new god. The Bible tells us, that we must first bind the strong man, and then you have control to take whatever they have. What this is saying to the soul is that it is not in the mood to do the driving out. In this, cove, you are where you are, and you get what you got because you have failed your own self. It is very clear in the word of the Lord that men’s hearts have failed them because of impending fear. My friends, fear brings with it torments! Torment then brings along his buddy, paralysis, and once you have become a mental paraplegic; you will want to end your natural life! Why you ask? Because for you, all hope is now gone. All that is left for you is a tormented life of darkness called depression. Your darkness tells you to get high, take some pills, smoke your blunt because it will relax you and cocaine will help you when you are down. So, it's ok to self-medicate! Listen, only in God is all things possible!
Vexation: This word here is telling you that it's going to stick to you like glue. Meaning to say that when depression comes to your door, it will not leave until it has totally captured you, and then placed you on lock down.
Therefore, billions of people are on medications because no matter what the doctor says, you can’t break away from its grips. For many, it’s a lifelong battle, with a premature death coming for them called depression, whose friend is suicide.
Without God on our side, we are looking for hope in all the wrong places. And in this location no one shall ever find relief. Yet at this site, resides deprivation! At this point I need to reiterate this! I am in no way a psychologist, sociologist, or a license social worker. However, as a child, I was mentally, physically, and sexually abused for many years. Also, I must add, in those days because of my color, I was not worthy of mental evaluation, or treatment. To add insult to injury, I was sold for fifty dollars. In other words, I had a long history of depression. I smoked whatever I could get, did all kinds of drugs, and drank like a fish. Unknown to me, I was self-medicating. Nevertheless, I am now saved through the salvation plan of the Lord; so, now I am free from the bondage of depression. My only medication is salvation. Therefore, I am now qualified through the blood of the lamb, as one who was called, appointed,, and ordained by the Lord to work in His vineyard. This means, I as well as all who were converted and placed into a position by the hand of God, now have the insights that natural men do not possess. It is called Spiritual insight into the realm of God. Meaning to say, since the power of the Lord is working in me, I have been set free from depression, and I received a bonus in the form of emancipation from all drugs as well. Again, I’ve been on the medication and while I was taking it, I was never myself. I was always in what I call an altered state of mind where I did feel calm, but my will was compromised, and I felt like I was separated from myself. Now that was not God's doing.
What am I saying? The doctor was made for a reason, but you need to understand that the Lord provided this office as a mercy plan for the wayward. In other words, if you cannot trust that God can deliver you, well then as a pastor, I have a duty to inform anyone who is not a member of my congregation, that you should seek out some professional to see if they can help you cope with your depression. Again, this is not an easy subject to deal with. So I'll tell you this! As a conclusion, as it is with me, God can deliver you out of depression and anything else, but you must come to Him and deny yourself. Meaning, that you must kick your pride to the curb and bow your own self before the Lord and call on Him to save you from your life of torment. My friends, this is what I did. God will come into your heart and change your life, and you will never regret it. This life is only here for a moment, and then we all die. I ask you this! Where do you want to go when you leave the earth, and trust me you are leaving?
I pray that you are touched by these words and reach out to the Lord and give Him a try. Anyway, what do you have to lose. I am in no way a Jesus freak, but I am saved through the salvation plan that Jesus presented to me, and I accepted His salvation. Will you now consider this relief?
